Aneesha is a young woman who has been married off to a man 10 years older than her in order to keep the peace in their rural Indian community. Having moved from Delhi to her husband's village, she discovers that his family practice a caste-based system of social stratification that forces the lower castes into servitude and forbids girls from going outside without being completely covered. In order to escape this suffocating situation, Aneesha takes an after-work job at a bar where she meets Aditya, one of the owners. As the pair fall for each other, they realize there’s no time left before their secret becomes public knowledge. Agneepath was the first feature film directed by Karan Malhotra. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles. It was released on 6 January 2012 to mixed reviews.The story opens with Aneesha (Priyanka Chopra) who is getting married to Raghu (Aditya Pancholi), a man 10 years older than her, in his small village in Punjab where social stratification is based on caste system. She has to obey her strict Hindu Brahmin family and also live in a world where no girl can go outside without being completely covered. Aneesha meets Aditya (Hrithik Roshan), one of the owners of a bar after work, and falls in love with him. She realises that if their secret is discovered, they will be forced to marry. Raghu eventually finds out about their affair and forbids Aneesha from seeing him anymore and asks Aneesha to go back home to the village (to the family she is married off to). She does that and tries to forget Aditya. A few months later, her wedding day comes up and Raghu still insists on going through with the marriage. The marriage takes place in a masjid (mosque). Aditya rushes to see Aneesha, because he has a plan. A lot of time passes and Aneesha is pregnant which she keeps a secret from her husband. She understands that this is her only way of escaping the marriage she had so far. She escapes from Raghu's home one night after giving birth to their child, escaping with the help of Aditya who had promised to get them out of there one day. They get on a train heading for some other town. Raghu learns of Aneesha's escape and goes to the police station informing them that his wife is missing. The police start searching for them in trains, buses etc. Aneesha reaches Aditya's "house" with her baby boy. Since she didn't have any identification on her, he gives her false identification, helps her get a job in his bar and they start living together as a family with Aditya and his mother (Mumtaz Sorcar). This makes Aditya's girlfriend (Pakiza) very angry and she argues with him all the time.
